Crew Positions
Light Board Operator
The light board operator is responsible for the operation and programming of the light board during a performance or other event. All TEC members interested in operating a lighting board must complete a training session on the board to be operated. It is up to the TEC member to arrange a training time as it cannot be during normal crew work hours (3pm-5pm). Responsibilities of the light board operator include, but are not limited to:

- Run all lighting cues during rehearsals and performances as designed by the Technical Director.
- Prior to each performance or event, check that all lighting fixtures are working properly - replace any burnt out lamps or gels.
- At the end of each performance, event or rehearsals, shut down and cover the light board.
- Report any problems encountered with cues or equipment to the Technical Director.
Followspot Operator
The follow spot operator is responsible for the operation of the follow spot during a performance or other event. Responsibilities specific to this position include, but are not limited to:
- Operation of the follow spot during all rehearsals and performances as designed by the Technical Director.
- Assist the light board operator in completing lighting checks prior to each performance or event.
- At the end of each performance, event or rehearsals, shut down follow spot and return to "storage" position.
- Report any problems encountered with cues or equipment to the Technical Director.
Lighting Crew
The lighting crew is responsible for setting up the lighting equipment prior to a performance or other event. Responsibilities of the lighting crew include, but are not limited to:
- Hanging and focusing lighting fixtures as documented in the lighting paperwork.
- Rigging trusses for use as lighting positions as documented in the lighting paperwork.
- Striking lighting fixtures not part of the House Plot at the completion of a performance or event.
- Striking trusses at the completion of a performance or event.
- Report any problems encountered with equipment to the Technical Director.
Sound Board Operator
The sound board operator is responsible for the operation and programming of the sound board during a performance or other event. All TEC members interested in operating a sound board must complete a training session on the board to be operated. - Run all sound cues during rehearsals and performances as designed by the Technical Director.
- Prior to each performance or event, perform a sound check to ensure that all sound sources are working and prepared properly.
- At the end of each performance, event or rehearsals, shut down and cover the sound board.
- Report any problems encountered with cues or equipment to the Technical Director.
Sound Run Crew
The sound run crew is responsible for setting up and moving the sound equipment on stage prior to and during a performance or other event. Responsibilities of the sound run crew include, but are not limited to:
- Set up and cable microphones, monitors and other equipment needed on the stage prior to each performance or event as documented in the sound paperwork.
- Set up and test all intercom equipment in predetermined locations for the performance or event.
- Assist the sound board operator in performing sound checks prior to each performance or event.
- During a performance or event, move microphones, cables, monitors, etc. around the stage in a quick, professional manner maintaining safety for performers and minimizing hazards.
- At the end of the performance or event, return all equipment to its proper storage location.
- Report any problems encountered with equipment to the Technical Director.
Video Switcher Operator
The video switcher operator is responsible for the operation of the video switcher and video recording during a performance or event. All TEC members interested in operating the video switcher must complete a training session on the video switcher and video recorder. It is up to the TEC member to arrange a training time as it cannot be during normal crew work hours (3pm-5pm). Responsibilities of the video switcher operator include, but are not limited to:
The video switcher operator is responsible for the operation of the video switcher and video recording during a performance or event. All TEC members interested in operating the video switcher must complete a training session on the video switcher and video recorder. - Enable the video recorder 5-minutes prior to the start time for the performance or event.
- Communicate clearly with the camera operators, asking for specific shots and ensuring camera operators know when their feed is "live".
- Set up and test all intercom equipment in predetermined locations for the camera operators.
- Monitor the audio feed for the video recording - make adjustments if necessary.
- At the end of each performance or event, stop the video recorder and power down the video switcher and video recorder.
- Report any problems encountered with the equipment to the Technical Director.
Camera Operator
The camera operator is responsible for the setup, operation and tear down of the camera equipment during a performance or event. Responsibilities of the camera operator include, but are not limited to:
- Setup and test the camera equipment prior to the performance or event.
- Operate the camera as directed by the video switcher operator during the performance or event.
- Tear down the camera equipment and return it to its proper storage location following a performance or event.
- Report any problems encountered with equipment to the Technical Director.
Stage Machine Operator
The stage machine operator is responsible for operation of the automated staging equipment during a performance or event. All TEC members interested in operating the stage machine controller must complete a training session on the control panel. It is up to the TEC member to arrange a training time as it cannot be during normal crew work hours (3pm-5pm). Responsibilities of the stage machine operator include, but are not limited to:
The stage machine operator is responsible for operation of the automated staging equipment during a performance or event. All TEC members interested in operating the stage machine controller must complete a training session on the control panel. - Safe operation of automated staging equipment during performances, events and rehearsals.
- Follow direction by the Technical Director or other supervisor in the operation of "unseen" equipment.
- Remain alert for and report potential hazards that may prevent safe operation of automated stage equipment.
- Report any problems encountered with equipment to the Technical Director.
Stage Run Crew
The stage run crew is responsible for the setup and movement of scenery or staging items used prior or during a performance or event. Responsibilities of the stage run crew include, but are not limited to:
- Setup of all scenery or staging items prior to house opening for performances or events.
- Clean and check the stage for potential hazards prior to each performance or event before the house opens.
- Move all scenery or staging items used during a performance, event or rehearsal in a quick, professional manner maintaining safety for performers and minimizing hazards.
- At the end of a performance or event, return all scenery or staging items to their proper storage location.
- Check all scenery or staging items for breakage, damage, or loss and report repair needs to the Technical Director.
