INTERCOM ETIQUETTE
The intercom system in all of the theatre facilities are essential for quick and clear communication during the running of an event. All running crew members are expected to know and follow these rules and expectations.
All cues will be called over the intercom. The following is an example of how cues are called. "Standby's" are given to indicate that a technical cue is about to be called. The operator will then perform the function assigned to them when the word "GO" is given to them. (*note that the following is just an example and does not apply to those running video equipment)
- All running crew must be in position with headsets on 10-minutes prior to the start time of an event (an "intercom check" will be conducted)
- If you are not going to talk, be sure that your intercom "talk" button is "off"
- Do not sing, hum, shout or yell on headset
- Do not use the "call" button unless you need to get the attention of the theatre staff on duty
- Everyone on the system must be silent when a "standby" call is given
- Lights, sound, backstage and stage manager use channel "1" ... video crew uses channel "2"
- All communication must be respectful and appropriate. Remember that EVERYONE on the intercom systems hears everything. Running crew caught using inappropriate or disrespectful language will be dismissed from the running crew.
